Reliant Robin

There used to be certain ‘types’ who drove Reliant Robin three-wheelers. There were huge, hairy bikers who wanted something that kept the weather out and could be driven on a motorcycle license. Then there were tiny, often toothless pensionable men with bottle glasses and flat hats, who pottered along at about 25mph. In their passenger […]

Twilight over the Humber

Humber museum

On the back of a quiet industrial estate in Hull, you can find treasure. There, lying dormant in a large warehouse lie more than 20 classic cars, cars that were constructed to be the very best machines of their day. Cars that hold significant historical importance to our motoring history, but also the history of […]

All the Fun of the Fare

The Mini. The Routemaster bus. Ten years ago, Royal Mail released a set of ten British design classic stamps. Along with the pair of four-wheeled idols were the deities of the skies, Concorde and the Spitfire. But one British transport hero was missing. And this easily recognisable shape has put as much of a stamp […]

Adrian Flux Forever Cars

We’ve often thought about it – what would happen if you just never sold your car?   The answer is predictable of course; it would become part of your life, your identity. You. But could you really keep a ‘machine’ – a car or bike – forever? We know a lot of people who have […]

May Calendar Car – Jaguar E Type

Jaguar E-Type overhead via Influx

If you’re lucky enough to be enjoying a 2019 Influx calendar you’ll have been able to stare at this topless beauty throughout May. It’s unmistakablyy a Jaguar E-Type, and was a joy to work with. The stretched bonnet has long been an icon of design as car lovers worldwide reminisce about the curves of the […]

Hillman Imp

The Hillman Imp is perhaps one of the most unlikely icons to emerge out of the motoring industry during the 60s and 70s. Its rocky road to production and during assembly never really hampered its relatively impressive sales figures.

The Imp was designed to rival the hugely popular Austin Mini and in 1963 manufacturing began. Rootes Group chose Linwood in Scotland to build their little economy vehicle and it’s perhaps this geographical position that has helped the Imp overcome its problems and become a “working class hero” in its own right. A classic.

New Jaguar F-Pace SVR (2019-) First Drive Review

A Porsche Macan Turbo S has 400PS. Add the performance pack, and it becomes 440PS. And that’s quite a lot. A useful yardstick, then, when Jaguar pounces on to the scene and blows it out of the water with 550PS. You see, Jaguar Land Rover’s “Special Vehicle Operations” division got its hands on the F-Pace. […]

Morris Marina

It’s time to confess. I’m a motoring journalist who owned a Morris Marina. If you’re a Millennial and have a life then you might never have heard of the Marina, but anyone who remembers the 1970s and 80s will recall it as the apex of crap cardom. Launched in 1971 and nailed together from bits […]

Z Cars Mini

Even in standard guise, it hunted muscle cars around race tracks like wasps harassing a nervous child – a testament to its handling prowess, low weight, and predictable handling. Clear from the rally and race track success was that it could cope with more power. The star of our latest video was the ERA Turbo, […]

ERA Mini Turbo

ERA Mini

There’s something so special about the original cast of Minis. I can’t imagine a single person not looking, smiling or feeling something when they see one bobbing along the road. In whatever town or city, in whatever country, at any point over the past few decades.

There were so many models and variations of that initial shape but perhaps one of the greatest was the rare (and now even rarer) ERA Mini Turbo.
